Features

  • Average Length: 40-70cm
  • Average weight: 1.5-2.5kg
  • The flesh is moist and white with delicate texture which flakes easily. Has a low fat content, and is suitable for being smoked.

They have a distinctive dark spot in front of the pectoral fin, a square tipped tail and a sensory barb on the lower chin.
Red cod are caught all year round by trawling, with the main season from February to June.
